Spectra's Power!
So what is Miss Alignment planning to do with Spectra? How will she try and take over the world? How are Spectra and the gang doing now that they know about Spectra's power? Find out the answers to these questions and more in this sequel to our popular comic Spectra's Power. Join Lucy and her friends as tests are taken, relationships change, evil plans are revealed and the first laser is created. Adventure awaits!
Who is Spectra? Find out in the comic book!
Hello Teachers,
Registration for this year's PhysicsQuest: Spectra's Power has closed. For those of you that have registered the kits will be sent out in mid January. For those of you that did not have a chance to sign up, you can still participate in the Quest. The entire manual, including a materials list and the comic book, will be online as soon as the kits ship. You many create your own kit and quest along with the other teachers and even submit your answers online to be entered for prizes. Have fun everyone!
PhysicsQuest 2009: Spectra's Power
Lucinda Hene began life as the most ordinary of children. She did fairly well in school and was on the swim team but she longed to stand out. Child of brilliant laser scientists, Lucinda dreamed of being more than normal, of being extraordinary. Then one day it happened. She felt something inside her begin to change. She changed from normal Lucinda Hene to the powerful Spectra, a super hero with the powers of a laser. To unlock the mystery of her past and her powers Spectra must defeat the most evil of super villains, the beautiful yet deadly Miss Alignment.
Follow Spectra as she learns about her past and about the history of the powerful instrument she has become. In PhysicsQuest 2009 students will learn about why lasers are one of the most important inventions of the 20th century and at the forefront of many technology breakthroughs in the 21st century. They will do experiments to show why a laser is not just a cat toy, but an extraordinary tool for unlocking the mysteries of our world. All the while students will be helping Spectra and her gang save the world from the clutches of Miss Alignment.
About PhysicsQuest
PhysicsQuest is a middle school competition that consists of four physical science experiments centered on a mystery. The experiments are designed to be done by small groups in a classroom or after school setting. Each of the experiments gives students a clue that they need to solve the mystery. Classes can submit their answers online and be entered into a random drawing for prizes. PhysicsQuest kits are provided free to registered classrooms.
